Overview
The Victron Energy BPP900400100 is a Venus GX communication and monitoring unit for Victron-based power systems that do not need a built-in display. It sits at the center of the electrical installation and brings data from inverters, inverter/chargers, solar chargers, battery monitors, tank senders, and other connected devices into one place.
The unit runs from an 8 to 70 V DC supply, so it can fit common 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V DC onboard power systems. It measures 45 x 143 x 96 mm and is meant for protected electrical spaces such as a DC panel area, systems locker, nav station cabinet, or equipment bay where network and power wiring can be kept tidy.
Because this version has no display or front-panel buttons, monitoring and setup are handled from a phone, tablet, or computer through Remote Console, the built-in Wi-Fi access point, a local LAN or Wi-Fi network, or the Victron Remote Management portal when the boat has an internet connection.
Key features
- Central monitoring point for Victron power systems, including Multi and Quattro inverter/chargers, MPPT solar chargers, BMV battery monitors, Lynx devices, and compatible chargers.
- Works on 8 to 70 V DC input power for use across 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V DC electrical systems.
- Remote Console access through VRM, the built-in Wi-Fi access point, or a local LAN or Wi-Fi network.
- Two VE.Direct ports, two VE.Can RJ45 sockets, two VE.Bus RJ45 sockets, two USB host ports, Ethernet, Wi-Fi client mode, and a second CAN interface for wider system integration.
- Forwards live readings to VRM when internet is available, making remote checks of batteries, charging, loads, and system status practical while the boat is away from the dock.
- Stores data internally for up to 48 hours when no internet connection is available, with expanded logging possible through a microSD card or USB stick.
- Includes three configurable tank level inputs for European 0 to 180 Ohm senders or US 240 to 30 Ohm senders.
- Includes a potential-free relay contact rated at 6 A, 250 VAC or 30 VDC for control functions such as generator start and stop.
- Supports automatic generator start and stop rules based on values such as battery state of charge, voltage, load, and quiet-time settings.
- Can act as a Modbus-TCP gateway for connected Victron products.
Installation and setup
Plan the Venus GX installation where it can be reached for wiring and service, but away from spray, washdown water, and unnecessary heat. The operating temperature range is -20 to +50 degrees C, which makes placement in a ventilated electrical locker or protected console area a practical choice on most boats.
For first setup, Ethernet is often the cleanest path because the unit can connect to the network and appear in VRM with less trouble. Local access is also possible through the built-in Wi-Fi access point, which is useful during commissioning or when working at the dock without a full onboard network running.
Electrical and system integration
The Venus GX is useful when a boat has more than one Victron device and the owner wants a single view of charging, battery state, inverter activity, solar production, and connected sensor data. The mix of VE.Direct, VE.Can, VE.Bus, USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and CAN connections gives installers several ways to tie the system together without adding a display at the helm.
The tank inputs add value on boats where fuel, fresh water, waste, or other levels need to be monitored alongside power data. The temperature inputs require the matching Victron accessory sensors, and the USB ports can also support accessories such as a USB GPS for position tracking in VRM.
Use cases on board
This unit suits cruising boats, fishing boats, workboats, and liveaboard systems where the electrical installation is important enough to monitor regularly, but a separate display is not needed. It is especially useful when the owner or technician wants to check system health from a phone or computer, review logged data after a trip, or manage a generator based on battery and load conditions.
Maintenance and care
Keep the wiring secure, label the network cables, and leave enough service loop to remove the unit for inspection without pulling on connectors. In a marine installation, periodic checks for loose terminals, corrosion around nearby wiring, and blocked ventilation are simple steps that help keep the monitoring system dependable.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
