Overview
The Vimar Idea TORCIA is a built-in emergency hand lamp for Vimar Idea modular installations where a removable light needs to stay charged at the wall point. It runs on 120 V~ 50-60 Hz, uses a rechargeable and replaceable Ni-MH battery, and gives up to 2 hours of operating time from its integrated LED light source.
This 2-module unit combines a fixed charging outlet with an automatic emergency device, so the lamp stays docked and ready close to the area where it is installed. With IP40 protection, Class II construction, and a front width of 49.7 mm, it belongs in dry interior spaces rather than open deck locations, wet lockers, or other areas exposed to washdowns and spray.
Key features
- 120 V~ 50-60 Hz charging base with automatic emergency function
- Rechargeable and replaceable Ni-MH battery with up to 2 hours of operating time
- Integrated high-efficiency LED in a built-in 2-module Idea format
- IP40 and protection class II for enclosed interior mounting locations
- Charging outlet with 4 mm pins and 19 mm spacing between centres
Variants
This product is offered in two finish configurations within the same Idea TORCIA hand lamp format.
The listed variants change the visible color only. Across both options, the electrical format remains the same at 120 V~ 50-60 Hz with a 2-module built-in body, a rechargeable and replaceable Ni-MH battery, and up to 2 hours of operating time.
- VM16449.B, Color Ivory. This is the lighter finish in the range and suits panels where a softer contrast is preferred.
- VM16449, Color Gray. This darker finish blends more closely with gray Idea devices and surrounding switchgear.
Installation and fit
This lamp is made for built-in mounting in the Vimar Idea series. The front width is 49.7 mm, the overall height/depth is 50.1 mm, and the built-in depth is 39.2 mm, so it is worth checking panel space before ordering, especially on refit work where the switch board is already crowded.
Because it is a 120 V AC device, it is not a direct match for 12 V or 24 V DC lighting circuits. It fits best on vessels that already use Vimar Idea modular hardware or are being wired around that same system.
On-board use
This setup works well in cabins, passageways, crew areas, and other enclosed spaces where you may need a hand lamp quickly during a loss of main power. It is a sensible match for boats and yachts with 120 V AC service that want a removable emergency light without adding a separate portable fixture to the interior.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
