Overview
The Vimar Idea 16234 is a flush-mount 2P SICURY socket outlet for Euro-American plugs with parallel flat pins and 4.8 mm pins, for AC systems up to 250 V~ at 50 to 60 Hz.
It installs as a 1-module device and uses screw terminals, which makes it straightforward for panel and bulkhead wiring when you have access behind the mounting surface. The front face is matt thermoplastic and the unit is IP20, so it suits interior locations where it stays out of spray and washdowns. For space planning, the body is about 24.8 mm wide, 50.1 mm high, and 38.5 mm deep.
This is a 2P outlet without an earth connection. On boats, it is typically used for double-insulated chargers and small appliances that do not require grounding, on a properly protected AC branch circuit.
Key features
- Euro-American 2P outlet format for plugs with parallel flat pins and 4.8 mm pins
- Rated up to 250 V~ and 50 to 60 Hz for common onboard AC distributions
- Nominal current varies by version (see variants)
- Flush-mount, 1-module format for Vimar Idea modular installations
- Screw terminal connections for secure wiring in high-vibration environments
- SICURY enhanced contact protection and label space for circuit identification
- IP20 protection for interior, dry mounting locations
- Approx. 24.8 mm (W) x 50.1 mm (H) x 38.5 mm (D) for recess depth planning
Variants
This outlet is offered in two color finishes to match different interiors and helm panels.
The plug format and installation style remain the same across the range, while the nominal current rating depends on the configuration.
- VM16234.B - Color: White. Rated 15 A at 250 V~. A clean, light face that blends into bright cabin liners and interior panels.
- VM16234 - Color: Gray. Rated 10 A at 250 V~. A darker finish that sits comfortably on consoles and equipment pods without drawing attention.
Installation and setup
Plan the mounting location where the back of the panel is accessible and dry, and confirm you have enough depth for the body and wiring bend radius. Land the conductors on the screw terminals, keep copper fully captured under the clamp, and secure the cable run so vibration does not work the conductors loose over time.
Because this is an AC outlet for onboard distribution, installation should follow marine electrical practice for circuit protection and isolation. De-energize the circuit before wiring and verify correct polarity and secure mounting before putting the outlet into service.
Compatibility and fit
This is a 2P outlet intended for Euro-American plug styles that use parallel flat blades and 4.8 mm round pins. It does not provide an earth connection, so it is not a match for appliances that require grounding or for grounded plug types.
As a 1-module Vimar Idea device, it is meant to be integrated into the appropriate modular mounting hardware and cover system used on the vessel.
Use on board
This style of outlet is a practical choice on boats that carry a mix of US and EU two-pin devices, such as phone and laptop power supplies, small galley accessories, and other double-insulated loads. It is commonly placed at the nav station, inside a helm console, in a cabin, or in the saloon where the outlet stays protected from direct spray.
