Overview
The Vimar Idea 3-sound-sequence electronic chime is an acoustic signalling unit for 12 V call or doorbell circuits that mounts flush into a Vimar Idea modular plate. It runs on 12 V~ 50-60 Hz or 12 V d.c. (SELV) and gives three sound options: three-tone, two-tone, and buzzer.
Volume is adjustable up to 70 dB, which suits interior alerting where you need the sound to carry through cabins and corridors. The housing is plastic and rated IP30, so it is intended for dry onboard locations such as the cabin, nav station, or inside a console rather than exposed cockpits or washdown zones.
Key features
- 12 V~ (50-60 Hz) or 12 V d.c. (SELV) supply for low-voltage signalling circuits
- Three selectable sound sequences: three-tone, two-tone, and buzzer
- Adjustable volume up to 70 dB to match the space and background noise level
- Flush-mounted format for Vimar Idea installations, occupying 2 modular spacings
- IP30 protection and plastic housing for dry interior mounting locations
- Wired unit with no built-in battery and no wireless function
Variants
This chime is offered in two front-color configurations to match different Vimar Idea finishes.
The electrical ratings, sound sequences, and 2-module flush-mount format stay the same; the visible color is what changes between versions.
- VM16420: Color Gray. A darker face that blends cleanly with gray switch plates and helm-side interior panels.
- VM16420.B: Color Ivory. A lighter face that fits well with white or light interior trims and liners.
Installation and setup
Mounting is flush (plaster) style in a compatible Vimar Idea frame, using a 2-module position. Plan the location so the sound can travel into the spaces where people will hear it, and keep it in a dry area where spray and dripping condensation are not expected.
Wire it into a protected 12 V signalling circuit, following your vessel’s low-voltage practices and using SELV power as intended. If your boat is primarily 24 V d.c., provide a properly protected step-down supply to 12 V d.c. before connecting the unit.
Compatibility and fit
This is a Vimar Idea-series module, so fit is tied to the Idea modular ecosystem rather than round surface-mount buzzers. It is a good match when your boat already uses Vimar modular plates in cabins or interior bulkheads and you want an audible call point that matches the rest of the switches and outlets.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
