Overview
The Attwood Marine 11901-4 is a portable battery charger for 6V and 12V batteries, with 2A and 6A charge settings for 12V batteries and a 6A setting for 6V batteries. Once the battery reaches full charge, it switches to trickle mode, which makes it useful for routine charging and for keeping a battery maintained during storage.
This charger fits the kind of battery care many boat owners handle off the water, at the dock, or while the boat is on the trailer. The front ammeter lets you watch charging current as the battery comes up, and the LED power light gives a quick visual check that the unit is on. A 6 foot AC power cord and 48 inch battery leads also give some working room around a battery box, garage bench, or shop cart.
Key features
- Charges 12V batteries at 2A or 6A, and 6V batteries at 6A
- Shifts to trickle charge automatically after the battery is fully charged
- Built-in protection for overcharge, short circuit, and reverse polarity
- Front ammeter shows charging current during use
- LED indicator shows when the charger has power
- Includes a 6 foot power cord and 48 inch battery connector leads
- Suited to marine, automotive, RV, and similar battery maintenance tasks
Compatibility and fit
This unit is a practical match for owners charging a single 6V or 12V battery, whether that is a boat battery between trips, a seasonal battery in storage, or a battery that is removed for service. It is not the right charger for a 24V bank charged as a full 24V system, so checking battery voltage before hookup matters on boats with more than one battery or with series-wired banks.
For marine use, it makes the most sense where charging happens at home, in the marina, or in a workshop rather than through a built-in onboard charging setup. Small fishing boats, trailered boats, tenders, and other simple electrical setups are the kind of applications where this style of charger usually fits best.
Installation and setup
Connection is straightforward: attach the clips with correct polarity, choose the charge rate, and monitor the ammeter as charging begins. The reverse polarity protection adds some margin during hookup, which is helpful when working around battery compartments and storage areas where access can be tight.
As with any battery charger, use it in a ventilated area and confirm the battery voltage before charging. That is especially important on boats that may have separate starting and house batteries, or older 6V batteries kept for specialty equipment and seasonal gear.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
