Overview

The JL Audio 010-03365-00 is a weather-resistant marine source unit with a 2.8-inch TFT full-color display (320 x 240) and three audio zones for independent control around the boat. The front-panel design is IP67-rated for spray, washdowns, and open-cockpit use, and it runs on 10 to 16 V DC electrical systems.

For speaker power, it includes a built-in amplifier rated at 25W x 4 at 4 ohms for Zones 1 and 2, with a 2 ohm minimum per channel when your system requires it. Each zone also supports RCA preamp outputs with a stereo pair plus a dedicated mono subwoofer output, letting you mix powered zones and external amps without having to compromise the layout.

Sources cover the usual onboard mix: Bluetooth (with SBC and Qualcomm aptX audio), USB 2.0, and an analog AUX input, plus AM/FM tuning with RDS and 18 presets. NMEA 2000 networking is built in via a Micro-C connection (LEN 1) for integration with compatible displays and network remotes.

Installation and fit

This unit is meant for a flush helm or console install. The mounting hole size is 3.74 in wide x 3.15 in high (95 mm x 80 mm), and the overall chassis measures 4.65 in x 3.74 in x 3.66 in (118 mm x 95 mm x 93 mm). Before cutting, confirm you have room behind the panel for the chassis depth and for cable bend radius on power, speaker leads, RCA outputs, antenna, and network connections.

Electrical and system integration

Plan it like a 12 V-class device: operating voltage is 14.4 V DC nominal (10 to 16 V range) with up to 15 A current draw, so it should be fed from a properly protected circuit using the specified 15 A fuse. If you are pairing it with external amplifiers, the 4V RMS preamp output setting (Relative or Absolute modes) can help keep gain structure clean when runs are long and the environment is noisy.

For networked boats, the NMEA 2000 Micro-C connection lets the source unit participate on the backbone. Keep backbone power and termination correct, and avoid spurs that are longer than your network design allows so control stays responsive underway.

Audio setup on board

The three-zone layout is handy when the cockpit, cabin, and bow need different volume levels or different content. Each zone includes tone and balance controls plus selectable high-pass filtering (Off, 80 Hz, 100 Hz, 120 Hz) and low-pass filtering for subwoofer outputs (Off, 60 Hz, 80 Hz, 100 Hz), which helps you keep deck speakers clean while letting subs do the low end.

This is a good match for boats that have multiple listening areas and want one head unit that can manage them without extra zone processors. It also fits well in refits where you are upgrading from a single-zone stereo but want to keep existing amps and speakers while adding better control and tuning.
