Overview
The Victron Energy BPR110048000 is a Smart BatteryProtect 48V-100A for managing DC loads on a 48V battery system. It disconnects non-essential loads before the battery is drawn down too far, helping preserve battery capacity for critical equipment and reducing the risk of damage from excessive discharge.
This unit handles 100 A continuous load current with a 250 A peak current rating and works across a 24 to 70 V operating range. It can also act as a system on/off switch, with Bluetooth setup through VictronConnect or nine preset engage and disengage levels through the programming pin.
For marine electrical systems, it is well suited to 48V house banks feeding equipment such as DC distribution, lighting circuits, electronics loads, refrigeration support circuits, or other non-essential loads that should drop out before the battery reaches a critical level. The electronics are potted to IP67, while the terminals are IP00, so the unit should be installed in a protected electrical area rather than an exposed deck or washdown location.
Key features
- 100 A continuous current rating with 250 A peak current for 48V DC load management.
- 24 to 70 V operating range for use with 48V battery systems and related DC installations.
- Bluetooth programming through VictronConnect for setting engage and disengage voltage levels.
- Instant Readout in VictronConnect shows key status information and warnings without pairing first.
- Load disconnects when DC voltage exceeds 64 V to help protect sensitive connected loads.
- Delayed alarm output activates after more than 12 seconds below the preset disconnect level, reducing nuisance alarms during brief voltage dips.
- Load disconnect delay is 90 seconds, with reconnect 30 seconds after voltage rises above the preset reconnect level.
- Short-circuit-proof open collector alarm output supports up to 50 mA for a buzzer, LED, or relay.
- VE.Bus BMS control mode supports Li-ion battery installations that use compatible Victron battery management equipment.
- M8 connections with 9 Nm mounting torque suit properly sized DC cabling and secure installation.
Installation and setup
The Smart BatteryProtect should be mounted close enough to the battery and DC distribution path to keep cable runs practical, while still leaving room for service access and proper cable support. The body measures 62 x 123 x 120 mm and weighs about 0.8 kg, so it can usually be fitted inside a battery compartment, electrical locker, or protected technical space.
The unit uses MOSFET switching rather than relays, so there are no relay sparks during switching. That matters in enclosed marine electrical spaces where vibration, confined routing, and repeated load cycling can make secure electrical layout especially important.
Electrical and system integration
The default thresholds are 42 V disengage and 48 V engage. These can be changed through Bluetooth, or set with one of the predefined levels using the programming pin. Current draw is very low, with Bluetooth on drawing about 1.9 mA when on and 1.7 mA when off or in low-voltage shutdown.
This product is for controlling DC loads and should not be treated as a replacement for correct fusing, cable sizing, or battery system design. It is not made for reverse current from charging sources, so installation position matters when it is used around chargers, alternator charge circuits, DC converters, or lithium battery systems.
Marine use on board
On a cruising boat, workboat, or fishing platform with a 48V battery bank, this unit helps separate non-essential DC loads from the equipment that needs reserve power. It is a good match for installations where battery protection, controlled shutdown, and simple voltage threshold adjustment are more important than manual switching alone.
Because the electronics are potted but the connections are not sealed, the best mounting location is a dry, protected electrical space with strain relief on the cables and enough clearance around the M8 terminals for safe inspection.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
