Overview

The B&G 000-11738-001 is a NMEA 2000 through-hull depth and water temperature sensor with a 0° (untilted) element and a 2 m Micro-C cable for connection to a Micro-C backbone.

It installs in a 51 mm (2 in) hole using the supplied plastic flanged housing and reports depth up to 180 m (590 ft) at 235 kHz with a 12° beam. On the temperature side, it measures water temperature from -10°C to 40°C (14°F to 104°F) with ±0.5°C (±1.8°F) accuracy, and it is powered from the NMEA 2000 network at 9 to 16 V DC (4 LEN load).

Key features
  • Depth and water temperature data on NMEA 2000 using standard PGNs
  • 0° element suited to hull deadrise angles from 0° to 7°
  • 51 mm (2 in) plastic flanged through-hull housing for a clean, permanent install
  • 2 m NMEA 2000 Micro-C lead for a straightforward drop to the backbone
  • Runs from the network at 9 to 16 V DC and draws 4 LEN for power budgeting
  • 235 kHz sounding with a 12° beam and depth capability up to 180 m (590 ft)
  • Retractable insert with an internal valve to reduce water flow when the insert is removed for cleaning
  • No speed sensor connection
Compatibility and fit

This is the 0° version, so it matches a near-flat mounting surface where hull deadrise falls between 0° and 7°. If the chosen area has more deadrise than that, the beam will not be aimed straight down and the readings can suffer, especially at speed.

On the network side, it behaves like a standard NMEA 2000 depth and temperature device, so any compatible display or instrument that reads those PGNs can show the data. If your boat runs a 24 V house system, the NMEA 2000 backbone still needs the usual 12 V class supply (within 9 to 16 V DC).

Installation and setup

This sensor is a true through-hull fitting, so placement matters. Mount it where the water flow stays clean and free of bubbles, away from strakes, steps, intakes, and prop wash, and where you can reach the retaining nut and cable route inside the hull.

The retractable insert helps with service and seasonal cleaning. When growth builds up on the face, the insert can be removed and cleaned, and the valve in the housing limits water entering the boat during that short maintenance window.

Electrical and system integration

Connection is via the attached Micro-C lead into a standard NMEA 2000 T-connector on the backbone. Account for the 4 LEN draw in your network load calculation and make sure the backbone is properly powered and terminated so the depth and temperature data stays stable across the bus.

Use cases on board

This sensor is a practical match for boats that want depth and water temperature on the NMEA 2000 network without adding a separate temperature probe. It fits well on cruising and racing sailboats where depth is shared across instruments, and on fishing setups where water temperature is tracked alongside depth.

Maintenance and care

Like any thru-hull sensor, it will read best when the sensing face stays clean. Check it periodically for marine growth, and clean the insert as needed so depth returns stay consistent and temperature responds quickly. Inspect the through-hull area for leaks during routine bilge checks, especially after the first few trips following installation.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
