Overview

The Simrad 000-13997-001 is a 1 kW High Wide CHIRP transom-mount transducer that runs 150 to 250 kHz with a constant 25° beam and a 9-pin connector. It delivers depth and water temperature, with a fast-response temperature sensor, and it can track bottom to about 152 m (500 ft) in suitable conditions.

This wide-beam format keeps coverage consistent through the sweep, which helps when you are watching bait and gamefish that ride higher in the water column. The same sweep still lands on the familiar 200 kHz neighborhood, so the picture stays easy to interpret if you are used to traditional high-frequency sonar.

The housing is urethane and it mounts on a stainless steel bracket. The transducer body measures about 108 x 191 x 74 mm (without bracket) and weighs about 4 kg, so plan for a solid transom mounting spot and a clean cable run back to the sonar input.

Key features
  • High Wide CHIRP band: 150 to 250 kHz
  • Constant 25° beamwidth across the band for steady under-boat coverage
  • 1 kW power rating for strong returns when conditions allow
  • Depth and fast-response water temperature sensing
  • Transom-mount format; recommended transom angle range is 3° to 21°
  • Urethane housing with a stainless steel mounting bracket
  • Approx. size (without bracket): 108 x 191 x 74 mm; approx. weight: 4 kg
  • 9-pin connector for compatible Simrad sonar connections
Compatibility and fit

This transducer is meant for CHIRP-capable sonar systems that support the 150 to 250 kHz High Wide band at 1 kW and accept a 9-pin transducer plug. It is commonly used on outboard and I/O boats around 25 to 40 ft (8 to 12 m) and works with fiberglass, wood, and metal hulls.

It can retrofit to existing TM258, TM260, TM265, and TM275 brackets, which is helpful when you are replacing an older transom transducer and want to reuse the mounting footprint where it makes sense.

Installation and setup

As with any 1 kW transom transducer, performance depends heavily on placement. Mount it where the face stays in clean water, away from strakes, steps, and heavy prop wash, and keep the bracket tight so the angle does not creep over time.

Seal all fastener holes through the transom, route the cable where it will not chafe, and leave enough slack for engine tilt and steering movement. If your display or sonar module uses a different transducer plug, an adapter cable is required between the unit and the 9-pin connector.

On-board use

The wide 25° beam is a good match for anglers who want to cover more water under the boat without constantly changing ranges and zoom. It also helps when you are working reefs, flats edges, and mid-water structure where fish are not glued to the bottom.

Maintenance and care

Rinse the transducer and bracket after saltwater use, check mounting screws periodically, and clear any growth that builds on the face. Avoid direct high-pressure spray on the acoustic window, and keep the cable jacket protected anywhere it passes through rigging tubes or sharp fiberglass edges.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
