Overview

The Simrad 000-13778-001 is a stainless steel thru-hull Medium CHIRP transducer with a 12° tilted element and a 9-pin connector for compatible Simrad sounders. It runs a single Medium band from 85 to 135 kHz and is rated at 1 kW, which suits boats that need clear fish and structure separation without giving up depth capability.

The attached 10 m (33 ft) cable helps with routing from the bilge area to a helm or sonar module on many layouts. The housing also includes depth and a fast-response water-temperature sensor, so you get both readings from one thru-hull fitting.

Key features
  • Medium CHIRP coverage from 85 to 135 kHz (single-channel)
  • 1 kW power rating, with depth performance up to 457 m (1,500 ft) in suitable conditions
  • 12° tilted element commonly matched to about 12° to 19° of deadrise at the mounting location
  • Low-profile thru-hull style to keep drag down when positioned in clean, non-aerated flow
  • Black 9-pin connector with 10 m (33 ft) attached cable
  • Built-in depth and water-temperature sensing
Compatibility and fit

This transducer is intended for systems that accept a 9-pin sonar plug and can drive a 1 kW Medium CHIRP transducer. If your display or sounder uses a different connector style, plan on the correct adapter so the connection stays secure and water-resistant at the plug.

Because the element is tilted, the sonar beam is aimed closer to straight down when the boat has deadrise at the install point. Allow room inside the hull for the thru-hull stem and nut, including a usable shaft length of about 71 mm (2.80 in), plus clearance for tightening and future service.

Installation and setup

Thru-hull installs come down to placement and sealing. Choose a location that stays in solid water underway and is clear of strakes, steps, intakes, and anything that feeds bubbles across the face. Keep enough separation from other sonar sources to reduce interference, especially on boats running multiple transducers.

Bed the housing with a marine sealant suitable for stainless-to-hull contact and tighten evenly so the flange seats flat. Route the cable with chafe protection and gentle bends, and keep it away from high-current runs where possible to help avoid noise.

Use on board

Medium CHIRP works well when you bounce between reef edges, wrecks, and open water, where you want detail on targets without stepping down into the narrow coverage you get at higher frequencies. It also fits cruising boats that want dependable depth and temperature readings once the transducer is mounted in clean flow.

Maintenance and care

Rinse the face after saltwater use and check the seal and hardware during routine haul-outs. Treat this stainless thru-hull like any other underwater metal fitting on your boat, and keep your bonding and anode maintenance up to date.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
