Overview
The Garmin 010-12797-00 is a 6 ft (1.8 m) 2-pin power/data cable used to hardwire compatible GPSMAP chartplotters and bring out their NMEA 0183 data leads.
It plugs into the 2-pin power/data port on the back of the display and routes to your boat's power distribution and any NMEA 0183 devices you need to connect, such as an autopilot, VHF with DSC, or AIS.
Key features
- 6 ft (1.8 m) cable length for helm, console, and overhead electronics boxes
- 2-pin connector for GPSMAP chartplotters that use the 2-pin power/data port
- Power leads for hardwiring through a fuse or breaker sized for your chartplotter
- NMEA 0183 wiring is brought out on the same harness for one transmit and one receive port
- Garmin NMEA 0183 wire colors: Rx/A (In +) white/orange, Rx/B (In -) white, Tx/A (Out +) gray, Tx/B (Out -) pink, with black used as power and data ground
Compatibility and fit
This cable is used on GPSMAP units that take a 2-pin power/data plug. Common matches include GPSMAP 8410, 8412, 8416, 8610, 8612, and 8616 models, including xsv variants. The easiest check is the connector style on the back of your display and the accessory list in the installation instructions for your exact model.
Installation and wiring notes
Route the harness so it stays out of bilge water, avoids sharp bends, and is protected anywhere it could chafe on fiberglass or metal. Leave a small service loop behind the display so the unit can be pulled forward without stressing the connector.
For NMEA 0183 runs that need extra length, use shielded twisted-pair wiring and seal splices with solder and heat-shrink. Keep the chartplotter power ground and any NMEA 0183 device grounds on a common ground point, and do not tie the NMEA 0183 data wires into power ground.
If the connected device has only a single Rx input (no A/B or +/-), leave the Tx/B (pink) lead unconnected. If it has only a single Tx output (no A/B or +/-), connect the Rx/A (white/orange) lead to ground. Confirm the wire functions for the equipment you are integrating before finalizing connections.
Use on board
This is a good match for installations where the display is hardwired at the helm and you still need straightforward NMEA 0183 data sharing alongside networked electronics. It also helps on refits where existing NMEA 0183 wiring is already in the boat and you want clean terminations without adding extra adapters.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
